CPO Brinkley
Chief Petty Officer Paul D Brinkley joined the Navy in 1954, just a poor farm boy from Tulot, Arkansas. He wanted to see the world and he did. All the way from California to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Vietnam. He never brought his work home.
At home he was just Daddy and Husband. [...]
My brother Robert L. Beverage is a deputy in the Greene County Sheriff’s Dept in Greene County Virginia (Stanardsville Va.)
He puts his life on the line for all those who are in need. He has done things I didn’t think could be possible. This man is my hero in more ways than one. He [...]
My Dad, John Jacob Bowman, is now 84 years in, but he was a seventeen year veteran who fought long and hard during World War II all over Europe. He was a member of the United States Army.
I love him and he is a big inspiration to me and my family. [...]
I want to honor my three brothers. Robert H. Jones, fought in the Army during Vietnam. The only thing I know is that he was a firefighter over there, and also was a volunteer when he settled down and married.
My other two brothers Thomas L. Jones and William E. Jones enlisted in the Army, and even [...]

He is a firefighter/1st responder for the Salamonia Volunteer Fire Dept. He willingly gives of himself every time the pager goes off, not knowing what awaits him when he gets there …and he asks nothing in return for these selfless acts!
Our local [...]
My hero is my husband. I wasn’t sure which category to put him in. He fits into several that are on this website. He is a loving husband, soldier, paramedic, father to our children…and our pets, friend, and currently works at the local Veteran’s Administration Medical Center.
He’s the health technician for the Audiology department and [...]
I will forever be thankful to the Scarborough Maine Police, Fire and Rescue. On February 14th 2008 while having a Valentine’s lunch in a nice restaraunt in Scarborough, my 68 year old husband had a massive heart attack. Due to their quick response and action, my husband is alive and well today.
They worked tirelesly to [...]
My Hero is my husband, LT H.P. Hickman with the Charleston Police Department. I know that in his 20 years of service he would not say that he has ever been heroic, but I know better.
I know he gave a woman CPR until an ambulance arrived. I know he spent a [...]
